Week 6

So this weekend I borrowed my sister-in-laws camera that I want after viewing these pics and editing in Picasa. The pics are my son who is 8 and nephew who is 4, it was a little tough with my nephew but we did it! I'm so happy with these pics that I am using them for my x-mas cards. Enjoy!

Week 4 - A little late...

This one was a little tough, here are the only two I was happy with. Enjoy

Week 6 Portraits

Hello Everyone. This is my son Adam and his girlfriend Becky. With limited time and sun light, this weeks this project was not easy. I find that taking pictures with no flash is difficult because your subject must be completely still, if they move in the slightest the picture is blurry. Most people are not comfortable being put on the spot for a photo shoot so they tend to move around. I tried hiring my 8 yr old Granddaughter for a model but she does not do "still" well. You can see portraits of her, my husband and both my cats on http://www.fotothing.com/mod2deb/.

Week 5- Macro

These two photos were taken just outside my house. There are these leaves everywhere in my backyard and I figured why not try and capture a picture. The second is in my front yard. The roses looked so beautiful. I will post more photos on my fotothing album. Hope you all enjoy! http://www.fotothing.com/emcrowell/

Just an FYI...

Fotothing has that 10 image per day limit so it's not showcasing all of the work I've shot so far...
In theory, this "public link" to my album on facebook should work for anyone who wants to see them...just be sure to click on the actual images because the thumbnails cropped them so poorly!

Thanks!

Week 6 Post: Portfolio- Yale Campus

This week I started to make my way around the Yale campus. I've been living in New Haven all of my life and have never been there. Here are some of the shots I took to add to my portfolio! Check out my other photos at: http://www.fotothing.com/shanie1226/

Simply Purple/ Pine Cone

Hi Everyone, I took these photos while walking on my lunch break today.  I tried to get in close as I could- but the glare from the sunlight was making it hard for me. Never the less- I tried: Wink:)

Finally got to Mountain Grove for my Portfolio!

Well, I finally had a chance to get to Mountain Grove Cemetery to take loads of photographs! This cemetery has some of the most amazing art, that just happens to be headstones. Please note that fotothing only allows for 10 images per day so I'll be uploading for the next several days! Keep checking www.fotothing.com/jackiejanosko to see more!

Macro

I found macro photography so much harder than I expected. Even with having my camera on the proper settings it was hard to really get closer to the subject, while still preserving the crispness of the picture. It seemed like for every 30 pictures I took, only a few were decent.

Week six Portrait

This week was a little challenging because of it being a holiday weekend and figuring out on how to do the portrait shots. I thought these two were probably the better ones out of the bunch I took. I wasnt really happy with the shots I took, but hopefully they get the job done. Enjoy!

Macro Photo

This is an angel of hope that was given to me during my chemotherapy. I love that the angel is faceless which leaves you wondering who is looking over you. I really love that using Picasa was able to bring out the tree/branches on her dress which isn't really noticable when you are just looking at the figurine itself.

Macro Photos

It is that time of year and I thought I would take a picture of something in my house that would fit into this week along with the season. This nutcracker that sits on my mantel is a great Christmas season fixture. In taking the picture, the colors came out really beautifully, so I didn't do much changing to the photo itself other than adding a little bit of shadowing since the natural light from my window was shining bright into my living room.

This is a glass rock I was given over five years ago by a friend. I was able to get close to the image so the rock looks larger than itself. This rock is actually the size of my thumbnail. I also really like the reflection in the glass.

I collect corks from any special occassion. This cork is from my recent graduation from Culinary School. I thought it would be a great shot with the natural light in the background. I also think it would look great in black and white, but am trying to stay away from the black and white since many of my photos around my home are black and white.

Some people may hate fake flowers, but these roses sit in my dining room and when the natural light came in through the window onto them I loved the way they looked. In getting in close to the actual bud with my camera, the photo makes the rose look so much larger than it actually is. Wht I don't like is the pattern you are able to see on the rose which tells you it is fake. Martha Stewart would NOT approve!

I recently bought a breast cancer door hangar and I decided to take this small ribbon and make it look bigger on the camera screen. Being a survivor, I thought it would be nice for my blog. I was able to make some of the colors stand out more and look deeper using Picasa
